Baseball Break

Yesterday I took a day off from work and went to the ball game. Yay! BBBbbbattteruuuUUUP! Ugh, I can never pull that off. Anywho, it was a beautiful day at AT&T Park, where the Giants was at home playing the last of a three-game series with the New York Mets.

I explored the food options again after my initial tour, this time focusing on a few vendors hidden underneath the big scoreboard under the bleachers. What an odd place to have vendors, but I guess the Giants want to use up all available commercial space. Most of the vendors in this underground area can be found on the main promenade, except for Big Guy's Custom Barbeque. Doesn't the name and the sign above the stand make it seem like some kind of auto detailing place?
I ended up getting the pulled pork barbeque sandwich for $9. Even I have difficulty making stadium food look good! Still, the sandwich was actually pretty tasty with a distinct liquid smoke flavor. I enjoyed it.

The Giants, of course, lost 5 to 3 after leading for awhile. But you know what? The day was so beautiful (sunny and breezy) and I wasn't at work that I didn't care. I stayed the whole game (which actually ran pretty fast at a little less than 3 hours) and then strolled up the Embarcadero afterwards. I ended up at the Ferry Building and stopped at Taylor's Refresher.
Taylor's Refresher has that fun diner brand, and is the spiffy high-priced version of its original Napa Valley location. I rarely eat at Taylor's but because its name has the word "refresher" in it, I always feel like it's a great place to, you know, get refreshed. So I went in to get one of its famous milk shakes. Last year I had their seasonal peach milk shakes. Unfortunately, it's too early for peaches, so I settled for the seasonal mango milk shake below.
The mango milk shake, made from Double Rainbow ice cream, was thick and refreshing. Geez, I am a sucker for branding, huh? Who cares, I had the day off.
