It's Not Just Curly, It's Curly Kale

This morning I was at the Berkeley Farmers Market and spotted these beautiful spheres of vegetables. With the deep winter colors of purple and green, this is curly kale. Now, I'm not a big consumer of kale, curly or straight, but I just thought these curly kale balls looked so interesting. I'm sure they're probably good for hearty soups or braised anything. But when I look at them, I keep getting the feeling that the Barefoot Contessa would make table centerpieces out of them. Don'tcha think?

Did you see Steamy Kitchen's crispy fried kale? I know you don't do deep fried, but it looked intriguing

Yes, I did see Steamy's post. Can you imagine frying these suckers up? It'd be like a bad perm! LOL

I love kale. In soups, sauteed, whatever. It's one of my favorites of the bitter greens! ANd you are so right about it looking like a BC centerpiece! :)

garlic, olive oil, salt, white wine -- that's all you need for the yummiest kale.
