I was happy with my toro and full from my loco moto. But like I said, my Mom and sister enjoyed their dishes.Single Guy Benhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02496236420566420946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34927862.post-18212568418318626292011-06-15T17:38:56.401-07:002011-06-15T17:38:56.401-07:00I had wanted to try that interesting sashimi paste...I had wanted to try that interesting sashimi paste dish but didn't. What did you think? It looked interesting, but there were other items on the menu that caught my eye. One of my pet peeves is lettuce that needs to be cut up, although I heard some etiquette authority say that means you can eat with your hands? But surely not for congee... That pork belly congee is actually the dish that I tried to order in Napa but it didn't show up at the table. Did you try it? My parents used to rent a condo in the Ilikai years ago for a month in the summer, that brings back memories.foodhoehttp://foodhoe.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34927862.post-42656496816369599892011-06-15T07:22:45.087-07:002011-06-15T07:22:45.087-07:00I'm surprised it wasn't more experimental....I'm surprised it wasn't more experimental. Looks like there are a few duplicate menu items between the two. I heard the decor at the Napa one is more dramatic, so interested to check that out along with the food. And it may be true the glazes might be a bit more sweet in Hawaii for the local tastes.Single Guy Benhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02496236420566420946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34927862.post-30365406394299675142011-06-14T15:57:46.475-07:002011-06-14T15:57:46.475-07:00I didn't notice the dishes leaning towards swe...I didn't notice the dishes leaning towards sweetness, which is good because I really don't like sweet. There was a tofu dish that a friend had which was very spicy, unexpected since it wasn't described that way on the menu. Guess you'll just have to go and see for yourself! The Librariannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34927862.post-15345656667950504352011-06-14T12:40:44.930-07:002011-06-14T12:40:44.930-07:00I was also curious as to whether you've been t...I was also curious as to whether you've been to the Napa Morimoto... also curious to see whether dishes also lean on the sweeter side (not my preference) in Napa (perhaps it may also be a Hawaii thing)? I guess I may have to investigate. :)Claudinehttp://winterjade.com/WordPressnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34927862.post-22654381521197086792011-06-14T07:10:28.215-07:002011-06-14T07:10:28.215-07:00My mother also had the black cod when we had lunch...My mother also had the black cod when we had lunch at the Morimoto in Napa. It was great there as well. The other dishes we had were good, but again not as spectacular as I was hoping. But the place itself was very pleasant. Had to try it once! The Librariannoreply@blogger.com
