They go down real smooth.Passionate Eaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14492203392706191554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34927862.post-65588140046295819672009-01-06T10:44:00.000-08:002009-01-06T10:44:00.000-08:00an edible centerpiece. Sometimes you even see people selling live pandan plants at the Asian malls. I wouldn't use them to make pandan chiffon cake, though.Nate @ House of Anniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00999631992214200998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34927862.post-1938107348504721462009-01-05T18:46:00.000-08:002009-01-05T18:46:00.000-08:00"Everything's better with bacon." ;-)"Everything's better with bacon." ;-)Single Guy Benhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02496236420566420946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34927862.post-73346373620229799402009-01-05T12:31:00.000-08:002009-01-05T12:31:00.000-08:00Interesting! I've never seen them like that either, but can really visualize the long sprays of them hanging down from a palm tree.

For our holiday breakfast I experimented with the easily-googled "Bacon Baklavah" recipe, and ohmydeargoodness was it ever delicious. The layering between the butter-brushed phylo sheets involved chopped dates, chopped crispy bacon, and chopped toasted almonds. The drizzle after baking was maple syrup, bourbon, and orange zest instead of the usual honey.

Hardly any calories in each piece, of course, but sooooo good! An excellent application of dates, in my opinion :-)Carrollhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12716839866042506364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34927862.post-48315305958422207152009-01-05T10:34:00.000-08:002009-01-05T10:34:00.000-08:00Single Guy Chef, I have never seen dates on a stem...Single Guy Chef, I have never seen dates on a stem before! Strangely enough, I had dinner recently and had dates on two of the dishes... I like dates better than I like prunes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
